Zenith Adds Moving Floors
Zenith’s technologically advanced fleet received some exciting additions recently when taking delivery of five new ‘Legras’ 13.5m tri-axle moving-floor trailers.
The new equipment will be largely servicing a newly secured wood-chip distribution contract through Zenith’s Chepstow distribution centre.
These are the first new moving-floor trailers to enter the 600-strong trailer fleet and each trailer will cover in excess of 120,000 km per annum over its five-year working life.
The trailers operate a hydraulically-driven moving-floor conveyance system, which automates and facilitates loading and unloading of goods by eliminating the need for a forklift to enter the trailer.
The moving floor is divided into three sets of narrow floor slats, with every third slat connected together, hydraulically powered to move forward and backward either in unison, or alternately. When all three sets move in unison, the load is moved upon them in the direction the operator demands.

We have been operating two on trial while the new trailers were in build, They have been very productive and adding this specialised equipment on a permanent basis will allow us to provide even further flexibility to our customers.”
