Seamless Driving In Europe After Brexit
This week it had been confirmed by the Government that British drivers will be able to continue using existing insurance policies in the EU without the need for extra paperwork after Brexit.
The decision will be welcomed by the estimated 2.5 million private and commercial drivers from Britain who travel in the EU every year.
Without the agreed arrangement, drivers from Britain faced returning to a “green card” system which would have meant using documents printed on green paper that cannot be delivered electronically.
The scheme Britain will be joining will be similar to the current arrangements Andorra, Serbia and Switzerland have with the EU – where drivers can enter the EU using their domestic insurance policy and do not need any additional documentation.
However, no date has currently been set for when the scheme comes into action, but Britain has asked the European Commission for an introductory date.
