New Rules Could Attract Drivers

by | Dec 12, 2018

New rules covering the employment of truck drivers have recently been agreed by the Council of Europe, in an attempt to make the job more attractive.

The vote which took place at beginning of December, approved EC proposals to reform the road transport sector, and will now go to the European Parliament for agreement on the final text.

The proposals which include new requirements on working conditions, aim to keep existing workers whilst drawing new drivers to the industry.

The proposal also includes the agreement that drivers from lower wage countries will now be paid the same as drivers in higher-paid countries, subject to certain conditions.
